PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The primary purpose of the Family Financial Support-Food Assistance-Intake

and Case Management Unit is to provide qualifying individuals/families with an avenue for applying for Food Nutrition Services.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  This position will be assigned to the Food and Nutrition Services Program Area and will provide general and specialized support.  Some of the duties required will be as follows:

§          Completing Food and Nutrition Services reviews-assigned by FNS Lead Worker or Supervisor

§          Preparing Food and Nutrition Services cases to be scanned for electronic storage and creating bar codes for scanning

§          Keying simple FNS changes

§          Providing coverage for First Floor Receptionist during lunch, vacation and sick leave

§          Checking SDX and Bendex reports and documenting which cases require no action taken

§          Assisting FNS caseworkers with SSN enumeration and VA match reports

§          Assisting FNS caseworkers with third party verifications

§          Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS and ABILITIES:   Good mathematical reasoning and computation skills.  Ability to communicate with clients, applicants and the public to obtain data, Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants. 

Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science or a closely related curriculum; OR Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income Maintenance program; OR Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks;  OR  an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an

equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Preference will be given to applicants with previous Income Maintenance experience.

 

TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  Experience with Windows and Excel preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must have NC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
