PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The Medical Support Services Division consists of the Medical Support Services-Family and Children’s Medicaid-Intake and Case Management Unit, Community Resource Unit, Program Integrity and Haywood County Meals on Wheels Program.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The position is an Income Maintenance Caseworker II (IMC-ll) and this worker will serve as a caseworker in the Family and Children Medicaid Intake/Case Management unit. This worker will receive and process applications and determine the applicant’s initial eligibility as well as re-determine eligibility for ongoing recipients, and take action on any changes occurring in the assigned caseload, for one or more of the following programs:
MIC: Medical assistance for infants and children under age
19,
must meet income and residency guidelines MAE. Medical assistance for families with a child/children, eligibility based on residency, income, resources, etc. MPW: Medical assistance for pregnant women, must meet income and residency guidelines NCHC-Health Insurance for children age 18, must be ineligible for Medicaid and meet income and residency guidelines.

Good mathematical reasoning and computation skills Ability to communicate with clients, applicants, and the public to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, policies and procedures. Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants. Ability to learn the program area of assignment and all agency programs and services wchould affect the client/applicant.  Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Graduation from an accredited degree program in Human Services Technology Social Services Associate Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; OR graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income Maintenance program; OR graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
TRAININGIEXPERIENCE: Experience with Windows and Excel preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have NC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
