General Description of Position:

The purpose of this position is to dispatch emergency services in response to calls for assistance; responsible for answering emergency services phones, dispatching appropriate emergency service units, maintaining emergency reference materials, maintaining logs and tapes and servicing/maintaining equipment; works independently exercising mental agility and sound judgment in life and death situations requiring an emergency service response.

Minimum Training and Experience:

Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.  Must be 21 years of age, not have committed or been convicted or a crime or crimes as specified in 12 NCAD 10B.0307.  Produce a negative drug screen test result.  Requires over one month and up to and including three months of experience in telecommunications.

Work Hours/Benefits:

This is a full time position and all County benefits are available.  The hours and schedule to work will vary.

Salary: $26,921.86                               Grade: 61
