General Description of Class
The purpose of this class is to plan, supervise, and participate in the activities and operations of the Animal Control operations; to enforce state and local laws and ordinances governing the care and keeping of domestic animals and livestock in an effort to maintain public safety and welfare, and to perform related work as required.  This class assists in the planning, organizing, and implementations of programs within major organizational policies, reporting program progress to executive-level administration through reports and conferences.

Minimum Training and Experience
Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by formal training, special courses or self –education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in animal control, law enforcement, or a closely related field.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Must complete required animal control coursework and possess and maintain Animal Control Officer Certification.

Experience Requirements:
Requires three years or more experience in an animal related, law enforcement, or a closely related field.

The pay grade assigned to this position is 61 with a salary range of $26,133 to $39,198 depending upon background and experience.
