Emergency Medical Services EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic 
General Description of Position
This position will provide routine and specialized emergency care. The position is responsible for serving as an EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic on a two-person advanced life support team and other emergency service related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Training and Experience

Requires high school diploma, GED and associate’s degree or vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education. NCOEMS EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic, BCLS, ACLS. BTLS, PEPP or PALS may be required.  Requires a minimum of six months of emergency service experience or clinical experience.  Paramedic credential preferred.

Work Hours/Benefits
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule of 12 or 24 hours per shift.  Hours and shifts may vary.  Part-time are required to work a minimum of 36 hours per calendar quarter and prefer 12 hours of work per month.  Position requires that part-time staff attend a minimum of 4 scheduled classes of Haywood County ALS Continuing Education per calendar year and maintain a minimum of 24 hours of ALS continuing education per year.  County benefits such as health, dental, drug, life, retirement, 401(k), vacation and sick leave are not included in compensation.
Salary

The pay grade assigned to the paramedic position is 64 with an hourly wage of $14.00.
