Position: Elections System Administrator
Salary Range: $35,085.83 - $52,627.63
Salary Grade: 68

General Description and Tasks
Under management of the Director of Information Technology, incumbent will work with team of professionals to provide support required for the continued growth and steady functioning of Haywood County’s technological infrastructure. Incumbent will assist with the implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized procedures relating to the technological environments within the County.

Tasks include:
Telephone support and on-site problem determination and resolution for support staff and troubleshooting of mission critical systems for everyday County operations; Diagnoses and resolves complex operating system, application software, security, hardware or other related problems that affect system availability; Provides training and/or advice to other technical staff and Information Technology management concerning technical topics or system definitions as appropriate; Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Information Technology Department as assigned or required  Duties directly related to Elections Maintains Elections website; Participates in election preparation by testing election software, training, preparing voting machines by performing tests, cycling, and screen calibration; Participates in election night processing; Assists with the long term operation of elections systems, electronic voting equipment and workstation software and hardware applications; Trains employees in using the computer equipment and software programs of the Elections Office; Responds over the phone, or in person, to diagnose and resolve user problems with touch screen voting devices, terminals, printers, personal computers, file servers, hard disks and other related equipment and software packages; performs preventative maintenance on equipment; provides hard drive maintenance such as optimization of disk space and virus checks; Installations/configurations, new purchases and licensing agreements; Assists in development of equipment security measures; attends training and documents procedures and processes.

Minimum Qualifications for Education and Experience
An Associates degree in Computer Science or related field supplemented by a minimum of three years experience, or a combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Extensive work experience with Microsoft Windows Server Systems required. Linux knowledge preferred.
