General Description and Experience
Assists the Haywood County Director of Elections in all tasks related to the elections process.  Successful applicant will process the characteristics of being self motivated, resourceful with a strong will to learn. Have knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, & equipment with considerable amount of computer skills.  Need to be very experienced in Microsoft Word & Excel, be familiar with Microsoft Publisher & Outlook.  Ability to read and interpret legal documents, laws, and voter registration documents related to maintaining compliance with all Federal and State of  North Carolina elections laws and be able to communicate effectively with elections staff, as well as the public.  Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel as needed in order to obtain N.C. State Board of Elections certifications.  
Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training. Computer and Technical Skills preferred, requires associates degree in business, or an equivalent amount of experience and education.
Work Hours/Benefits
This is a regular full-time position.  Work hours are 8:30 AM – 5 PM Monday – Friday with the exception of times during preparation and conduct of elections at those times applicant is expected to work as needed.  All county benefits such as health, dental, drug, life, retirement, (401k), vacation and sick leave.
The pay grade assigned to this position is 61 with a salary range of $25,545-$38,316
