PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The Economic Services Division consists of the Medical Support Services Unit, Community Resource Unit, Program Integrity, Child Support Enforcement, Family Financial Support Intake and Case Management Units, Food and Nutrition Services Intake and Case Management and Meals on Wheels Program.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  This position is an Income Maintenance Caseworker III/Lead Worker in the Medical Support Services Unit.  This worker acts as a liaison for the unit in policy concerns and eligibility matters for the following programs: Medicaid to the Aged (MAA), Medicaid to the Blind (MAB), Medicaid to the disabled (MAD), Specified Low Income Beneficiaries (MQB-B), Qualified Medicaid Beneficiaries (MQB-Q and E), Medicaid for Special Assistance to the Blind (MSB), Qualified Disabled Working Individuals (MWD), Special Assistance to the Aged (SAA), Special Assistance to the Disabled (SAD) as well as Community Alternative programs.  This worker will also act as a liaison with other units in the agency as well as agencies throughout the community.  This includes addressing problems that may arise.  This worker will assume all supervisory tasks in the absence of the Supervisor.  This worker will provide day to day training, policy clarification and guidance of procedures to three (3) Income Maintenance Caseworker III’s and five (5) Income Maintenance Caseworker II’s.  This worker may be expected to carry a small caseload in addition to the Lead Worker responsibilities.  This could be a Private Living caseload or a Long Term Care caseload. 

 

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS and ABILITIES:  Thorough knowledge of Income Maintenance program assigned.  Considerable knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant.  General knowledge of all Income Maintenance programs.  Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of regulations, policies and procedures of varying complexity.  Ability to work independently and prioritize work. Ability to instruct and evaluate the work of lower level employees.  Ability to train employees in new and existing rules, regulations, policies and procedures.  Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants.  Ability to perform casework functions under and within structured time frames.  

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; OR

an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  Experience with Windows and Excel preferred.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must have NC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
