Income Maintenance Caseworker II-Food and Nutrition Services
Pay Grade 63                        $13.72 per hour
Temporary position-20 hours per week-scheduled to be determined as needed
FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 06-30-2011 OR until funds exhausted

Primary purpose of organizational unit: The primary purpose of the Family Financial Support-Food and Nutrition Services Intake and Case Management Unit is to provide qualifying individuals/families with an avenue for applying for Food and Nutrition Services.


Primary purpose of the position: This position will be assigned to the Food and Nutrition Services Program Area and will provide general and specialized support to this area. 

Some of the duties assigned will be as follows:  Completing FNS reviews-assigned by the FNS Lead Worker or Supervisor, Preparing FNS cases to be scanned for electronic storage and creating bar codes for scanning, Keying simple FNS changes, Providing coverage for First Floor Receptionist during lunch, vacation and sick leave, Checking SDX and Bendex reports and documenting which cases require no action taken, Assisting FNS caseworkers with SSN Enumeration and VA match reports, Assisting FNS caseworkers with third party verifications, and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good mathematical reasoning and computation skills.  Ability to communicate with clients, applicants and the public to obtain data.  Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants.


Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science or a closely related curriculum; OR Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income Maintenance program; OR Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Training/Experience: Experience with Windows and Excel preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must have NC Driver's license and access to a vehicle.  Applicants must have no more than three points on current DMV record.
