Emergency Services

About 1,000 men and women, representing more than 30 fire, law enforcement and emergency services agencies, are involved in the 24-hour, 365-days a year effort to protect Haywood County citizens and respond to emergencies. Many are paid staff, but most serve in volunteer rolls.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Haywood County Board of Commissioners sponsored the first annual Emergency Services Appreciation Dinner at the Haywood County Fairgrounds. This event was followed on Sunday, Sept. 11, but the unveiling of a new memorial at the Clyde Fire Department in honor of those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
