Haywood County citizens have until 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 15 to appeal to the Board of Equalization and Review the value placed on their real property for their 2008 property tax bills.

Members of the Board of County Commissioners are serving as the Board of Equalization and Review this year. The board will convene for its first meeting at 1 p.m., Monday, April 14. The Board of E&R is scheduled to meet from 1 to 5 p.m. on April 15, 17 and 18. The meetings will take place in the conference room of the Haywood County Tax/Land Records offices located in the Waynesville Plaza in Waynesville.


To request a hearing, write a letter to Judy H. Ballard, Clerk; Haywood County Board of Equalization and Review; Haywood County Courthouse; 215 N. Main Street; Waynesville, NC 28786. Citizens may also request a hearing by filling out an appeal form at the assessor’s office. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.


In the event of an earlier or later adjournment, notice of the change will be published in the local media.
