Duffel bags needed for DSS foster children

The Haywood County Department of Social Services is in need of duffel bags to give to foster children for short-term stays.

Tony Beaman, DSS director, said small-to-medium sized bags are needed for everything from small children to teenagers.

“We give them to the children to keep and we’ve exhausted our supply,” Beaman said. “The children we are getting now in foster care don’t have any luggage, so we have to use garbage bags. We’d like to provide something better for them.”

Donated bags may be delivered to the Haywood County Dept. of Social Services at 486 E. Marshall St., or to the county office building at 81 Elmwood Way, both in Waynesville, any time between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Beaman at 452-6620, Ext. 2389, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
