Library to host Children's Book Week events Print

The Haywood County Public Library is planning two special events for this year’s Children’s Book Week. The first will be a Fun Family Reading Night at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at the Waynesville Library. This event will feature author, illustrator and performer Chris Rumble, who has inspired kids all across the U.S.

Come prepared to laugh out loud and sing along with Chris as he encourages everyone to read. The evening will begin with an introductory presentation by local author Anna Browning and illustrator Josh Crawford, whose first book Tanner Turbeyfill and the Moon Rocks has just been released. There will be refreshments and door prizes provided by the Friends of the Library.

On Tuesday, May 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the Canton Library, meet local authors and illustrators at a mini Authors Fair. Anna Browning and Josh Crawford will be on hand, as well as local illustrator Haley Wolfe, who illustrated Herman the Cat Goes to Outerspace. Also attending will be Dawn Cusick, author of several nonfiction books for kids, including Get the Scoop on Animal Poop, a finalist for the Children’s Choice Book Award for Book of the Year in the 3rd and 4th grade category. Come hear these talented authors and illustrators talk about their books and share what makes them write and draw. Enjoy refreshments generously provided by the Friends of the Library and maybe win some prizes.
