The Haywood County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the following boards:

  • Haywood County Public Library – One vacancy; Term – 6 years. The responsibilities of this board include adopting written policies governing the operation and program of the Haywood County Public Library; determining the purposes of the library and securing adequate funds to carry out library programs; assisting in the development of the annual budget; knowing local and state laws, and actively support legislation in the state and nation; and establishing policies dealing with book and material selection.   • Juvenile Crime Prevention Council – Up to 5 vacancies, one for a member of the faith community, one for a member of the business community, and up to three at-large members. The purpose of this Council is to serve as the community level organization which, through partnership with the state of North Carolina, and the Haywood County Board of Commissioners, works to develop community-based alternatives to detention and youth development centers, and to provide community-based delinquency and substance abuse prevention strategies and programs. Board application forms may be downloaded from the Online Services section of the county website, www.haywoodnc.net; or picked up from the County Manager’s Office, Haywood County Courthouse, Third Floor, 215 North Main Street, Waynesville, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
