The Haywood County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the following boards:

  • Haywood Community College Board of Trustees – One vacancy. This board functions to see that the community college is well managed. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to establishing the mission and goals of the college; Appointing and evaluating the President; Approving the annual budget; Raising funds; Obtaining adequate physical facilities; Establishing educational programs; Approving long range plans; Serving as a Court of Appeal; and public relations. The regular meetings of the Trustees are held on the second Tuesday of each month usually on the campus of the college. For questions, please contact the Presidents Office at 828.627.4516.
  • Clyde Planning Board – Three vacancies. Applicants must live in the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction of the Town of Clyde. The purpose of this board is to acquire and maintain in current form such basic information and materials as are necessary to understand past trends, present conditions, and forces at work to cause changes in these conditions; To establish principles and policies for guiding action in the development of the area; To prepare and recommend to the Town Board of Aldermen ordinances promoting orderly development along the lines indicated in the zoning plan; To determine whether specific proposed developments conform to the principles and requirements of the zoning plan for the growth and improvement of the area; To keep the Town Board of Aldermen and the general public informed and advised as to these matters; and to perform any other duties which may lawfully be assigned to it.. Board application forms may be downloaded from the Online Services section of the county website,; or picked up from the County Manager’s Office, Haywood County Courthouse, Third Floor, 215 North Main Street, Waynesville, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
