Position:           Public Health Nurse II

Location:          Haywood County Health Department

Beginning Salary:       $42,799.21 (less for trainee)

Pay Grade:                   72

Description of Duties:

Generalized public health nursing position with focus on school health services.  Work includes implementation of nursing care and techniques designed to promote health and prevent disease through visits in the home, schools and clinics.  Considerable contact with other agencies will occur.


Examples of Duties:

School Nurse-Establish and manage a comprehensive school health program within each school assigned.

Deliver health services to children.

Provide education and training to children and school staff.

Clinic duties: Work in General Clinic and other nursing duties as needed.


Minimum Education and Experience:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in NC by the NC Board of Nursing.  Valid NC Drivers License.
