PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The Child Support Enforcement Unit ensures that all children who are entitled to Child Support and medical insurance coverage receives these benefits.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To ensure that parents support their children to the best of their ability. Services are provided to all recipients of Work First and also available to non-recipients for a fee. Location of absent parents, establish paternity, child support orders and medical insurance for minor children by conducting interviews with applicants, locating and interviewing the absent parent to bring about the establishment of paternity and support either on a voluntary basis or by court action.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures; considerable ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources and to investigate cases; considerable ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information; basic math skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff, other court officials and private attorneys.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A four year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; OR an associates degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; OR graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Ongoing education and training are strongly encouraged within the Agency. Experience with Windows
and Excel preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must submit official college transcripts. Must have NC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle. COMPLETION OF APPLICATION: Applicants will be given credit only for information provided in response to the announcement.
