Healthy Haywood’s annual Fitness Challenge has been a huge success so far.  Registration topped an all time high totaling 2937 –surpassing last years’ 2400 participants.

 

The Healthy Living team coordinating this event is now gearing up for the Midpoint check.  The Midpoint will host the third annual “Healthy Taste of Haywood” on Tuesday April 20 at Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center from 6-8pm in the gym.  Fitness Challenge participants must show their card to enter.  “We are hoping that through this event, we can show people that it is possible to make healthy choices when dining out at local restaurants and when shopping at the grocery. “ says Duginske.

 

The two hour event will be dedicated to sampling healthy food from local grocers and restaurants such as Panacea, Connie’s Kitchen, Blue Ridge Osondu Books, Coffee Zone, Coffee Cup Café, The Patio, Cevich’s on Main, Food Lion, Christopher Farms, Bi Lo, The Pin High Bar & Grill/Maggie Valley Club, Smoky Mountain Café, and Nico’s Café.   Additional information will be available from Wellsprings Camps, Kids at Work, A Cooperative Extension program - Eat Smart Move More Weigh Less, and WIC Nutritionist through the Haywood County Health Department.
