The Adult Assistance Program Section (AAPS) consists of the Adult Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services Programs. We primarily work with the elderly and disabled population. For Medicaid, if a customer is over the age of 65, their assets and income are assessed. If they are under the age of 65, their assets, income and their disability are evaluated as they have to meet the Social Security Disability requirement. The unit is divided in two sections: The Private Living Arrangement (PLA) Intake Section takes and processes all applications for Medicaid and Food Stamps for those who live at home. They also take care of these cases once they are approved.
The Placement Intake Section takes and processes all applications for Medicaid for nursing home, rest home and CAP (Community Alternative Placement). They also maintain these cases once they are approved and handle ongoing placement cases.
