PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The Primary purpose of the Family Financial Support Division is to provide
individuals with Medicaid, North Carolina Health Choice and Food Assistance.  Medicaid is a health insurance program for those
whose income is so low that they cannot afford health care costs.  Eligible individuals may receive medical services such as routine
and preventative care, inpatient and outpatient hospital care and prescriptions.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  This worker will receive and process applications and determine the applicant’s eligibility
for the following programs:  Food and Nutrition Services, Medical Assistance to Families (MAF), Medical Assistance to Infants and
Children (MIC), Medical Assistance to Pregnant Women (MPW), Foster Care Medicaid (HSF and IAS), Medicaid Family Planning
Waiver (MAFD) and North Carolina Health Choice (NCHC).
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS and ABILITIES:  For IMC-I-Graduation from an accredited Associated Degree Program in Human Services
Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related
curriculum; OR Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which
include negotiating, performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income
Maintenance program; OR Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience
which include negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the
performance of mathematical or legal tasks; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Considerable knowledge of the program/area(s) of assignment; general knowledge of all agency and community programs and
services which could affect the client/applicant; good mathematical reasoning and procedures; ability to communicate with clients/
applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures;
ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees; and ability to perform caseworker functions within structured
time frames.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an
equivalent combination of training and experience. Will consider Work against for position.  Work against salary for IMC-I is
$26,132.66-Pay Grade 61.  Position requires one year of eligibility experience to fully qualify at the IMC-II level.
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  Experience with Windows and Excel preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must have NC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
