Description of Duties: To provide and inform the pregnant client of all services and resources in the health care and social system.  To assure a positive pregnancy outcome, emotionally and physically.  Work includes implementation of nursing care and techniques designed to promote health and prevent disease through appointments and home visits. 

Examples of Duties:§         Provide prenatal clinic duties, i.e.; PN history, education re: pregnancy and referral for lab, social services, WIC and assist FNP during prenatal clinic when needed.§         Maternity Care Coordination - provide case management through pregnancy until 2 months postpartum.§         Serve as liaison between doctor’s office and patient re: appointments, test procedures, and problems.§         Triage phone calls and walk in clients to appropriate resources, i.e. doctor., DSS, Social Worker, hospital, WIC, health educator, etc.§         Home visits as needed for clinic follow-up, immunization tracking, etc.§         Relieve and assist general clinic nurse.  Provide general clinic duties, i.e. immunizations to infants, children, and adults.§         Provide other public health nurse duties as may be required by the Department. 

Minimum Education and Experience:  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. Degree in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation; or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in NC by the NC Board of Nursing. Application Process:  State application (PD 107) must be submitted to:ATTEN:  Julia Plemmons, Director of Nursing1170 N.
