The purpose of the position is to maintain county buildings, facilities, grounds, and installation of street signs. The position is responsible to assist in the maintenance of all county buildings, facilities, outdoor areas and street signs for the county. This job posting is unique in that it reports to two departments: Public Buildings and Grounds and 911 Addressing. This position will alternate weeks between these two departments

ESSENTIAL TASKS The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. • Picks up trash from indoor/outdoor areas and hauls to disposal area. • Performs minor maintenance and repairs on county buildings such as painting, plumbing repairs, and electrical work. • Performs minor repair on tools and equipment such as hand and power tools. • Supervises community service workers as required. • Maintains outdoor areas operating equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, and trucks. • Maintains shrubs and plants by weeding, spraying, mulching, and trimming. • Plants and tends new shrubs, trees, and other ornamental vegetation. • Moves furniture, appliances, and fixtures as directed. • Performs routine clerical tasks such as typing letters and keeping records and logs. • Utilizes computer, plotter and other equipment to produce street signs. • Installs and replaces street signs under the direction of the 911 Addressing Office. • Assists Emergency Services with other tasks as directed.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED. Requires over two years of experience. Must have a valid NC driver’s license.

WORK HOURS/BENEFITS: This is a permanent full time position. All county benefits such as health, dental, drug, life, retirement, 401(k), vacation and sick leave. The shift start time for PB & G is 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM for 911 Addressing. This is a full time 40 hour/week position.

SALARY: The pay grade assigned to this position is 59 with a salary range of $23,392 - $35,089.17.
