                                       2018 UOCAVA Official Notice of Election & Contests

 

                                                

The mission of the Haywood County Board of Elections is to provide the highest level of professional standards to

ensure accurate, honest, and fair elections through accountability and integrity and to provide all citizens our

services in the most efficient, effective, and timely manner.  Additionally, voter registration and maintenance of

current voter records are one of the core components of the Elections Office.  Regular Board meetings are held the

second Tuesday of every month at 9:00 AM.

 

Our office is located in Waynesville off of HWY 276, RUSS AVE about a 1/2 of a mile from Kmart, just below Maple

Tree Veterinary Hospital.  Our typical office hours are 8:30 AM - 5:00PM Monday - Friday (except for holidays).

The voter registration deadline is April 13, 2018 by 5:00PM for the upcoming Primary Election to be held

May 8, 2018.  Early Voting will begin April 19, 2018.

                      One stop absentee

One-Stop Absentee Early Voting (commonly known as "early voting") allows any registered voter to cast their ballot in

person on select days prior to Election Day.  This shouldn't be confused with Absentee By Mail voting.  One-stop

(Early Voting) is considered "Absentee" because any vote not cast on Election Day is referred to as "Absentee

Voting".  Any Haywood County registered voter can vote One-Stop (Early Voting) at our Early Voting

sites.  The purpose of Early Voting is to provide a convenient way for citizens to cast their ballot in person, who

otherwise may not be able to make it to their regular polling location on Election Day.

 

One-Stop Early Voting in Haywood County begins on April 19, 2018 at 8:30 AM and will end on May 5, 2018

at !:00 PM.  One-Stop Early Voting will be held at three locations:

 

Haywood County Senior Resouce Center located at 81 ELMWOOD WAY in

Any Haywood County registered voter may request an absentee ballot be mailed to them.  No excuse is needed to

vote this way.  To request an absentee ballot complete the State Absentee Ballot Request form and return it to our

office by Mail, FAX, or E-Mail.  The form may only be signed by the voter or the voter's near relative or legal

guardian.  A near relative is considered to be a spouse, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild,

mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, or legal guardian.  Absentee

ballots will be available Monday, March 19, 2018 for the upcoming Primary Election  The last day to request an Absentee

Ballot is Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 5:00 PM.

Absent uniformed services members (and their eligible dependents) and U.S. citizens living outside the United

States may request an absentee ballot under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA).

When requesting a ballot, UOCAVA voters may choose to receive their balloting materials by Mail, FAX, or

E-Mail.  Download a Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) form and return it to our office by Mail FAX, or E-Mail. 

 

                            Notification of deceased

If a near relative would like provide notification of the death of a Haywood County registered voter, please

download a Notification of Deceased Voter form and return it to our office.  Upon confirmation of the voter, we will

remove the voter from the list of registered voters.  This form may only be completed by a near relative or

personal representative of the deceased voter's estate.  A near relative is considered to be a spouse, brother, sister,

parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, stepparent,

stepchild, or legal guardian.

 

                       Cancellation of reg

If a registered voter would like to cancel his or her voter registration, download a Cancellation of Voter Registration

form and return it to our office.  Upon submission of this form, we will remove the voter from the list of registered

voters.  Requested information will only be used to ensure that we are removing the correct voter.  This form can

only be completed by the voter and should be completed as thoroughly as possible.  Be sure to sign/date the form.

 

 

                                       For Candidates header

Candidate Filing will begin Monday, February 12, 2018 at 12:00 PM (Noon) and will end on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 12:00 PM (Noon).  Candidates will need to file their Notice of Candidacy during this time.  Filing Fees are based 1% of the base salary for the

office being sought. After filing, if not already done so, each candidate will then have 10 days to organize their committee

and file the required Campaign Finance documentation.  For information concerning Campaign Finance please
