General Description of Duties:

The purpose of this position is to control animal populations and protect the public.  The position is responsible for enforcing laws, sheltering animals, disposing of animals and maintaining the animal shelter.  The position works according to some procedures, but decides how and when to perform the duties under general supervision.

This position will also serve in the capacity to greet customers, to provide and gather general information, may collect fees and other charges and process these in accordance with County Fiscal procedures.

The employee in this position will answer phones, questions and will take messages along with providing specialized support to the professional staff in the department.  The employee will enter routine and specialized data into the computer system and will gather information for reports as required or necessary.

The employee in this position is required to attend staff meetings to exchange information; will attend in-service training as required to improve technical or professional skills.


Hours of work/benefits: This is a temporary part-time position.  Weekends only.  Saturday 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m and Sunday 9:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m.  County benefits are not available to this position.


Required Minimum Training: Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized training.  Requires over six (6) months up to and including work related to the job description.  Computer experience in Windows and Excel preferred.
