Applicants sought for Planning Board Print

The Haywood County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to serve on the Haywood County Planning Board.

The purpose of the Planning Board is to prepare and from time to time amend and revise a comprehensive and coordinated plan for the physical development of the county; To acquire and maintain in current form such basic information and materials as are necessary for an understanding of past trends, present conditions, and forces at work to cause changes in these conditions; To establish principles and policies for guiding action in the development of the area; To prepare and recommend to the Board of Commissioners ordinances promoting orderly development along the lines indicated in the comprehensive plan; To determine whether specific proposed developments conform to the principles and requirements of the comprehensive plan for growth and improvement of the area. The Planning Board has four vacancies, two of which must be full-time farmers.

Application forms may be downloaded from the Online Services section of the county website, or picked up from the County Manager’s Office, Haywood County Courthouse, Third Floor, 215 North Main Street, Waynesville, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
