DSS services to continue during January relocation Print

Employees of the Haywood County Department of Social Services are scheduled to relocate to new offices on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, and Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, but citizens will continue to have access to services.

The Department of Social Services is the first of several county departments that will be relocating in January to 157 Paragon Parkway in the former Wal-Mart location. County Environmental Services, which includes Environmental Health, Erosion and Sediment Control, Inspections, and Planning, will follow on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 and the Haywood County Health Department will relocate on Friday, January 20, 2012 through Monday, January 23, 2012.

DSS Director Ira Dove said his staff is prepared to continue responding to citizens’ needs during the relocation.

“If people need to make an abuse or neglect report on a child or adult, they can call us or we’ll have staff available to assist folks at the County Office Building located at 81 Elmwood Way,” Dove said. “We will have employees on hand for emergencies and crisis assistance in other areas. We will also continue to begin the application process for all services and answer questions.”

The current DSS location at 486 East Marshall Street will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. on January 5, 2012. DSS will be fully operational in its new location beginning at 8 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012. For questions or more information, please call DSS at 828.452.6620.
