County Manager presents budget

On Monday, May 16, County Manager Marty Stamey presented the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2011-12 to the Board of Commissioners. The recommended budget is $65,280,785, with a proposed revenue neutral tax rate of 54.13¢ per $100 valuation. The tax rate for the current year is 51.4¢ per $100 valuation.

The Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 31 in the Historic Courtroom of the Haywood County Courthouse to receive public input on the proposed budget. Commissioners will also hold a budget work session to discuss input from the public hearing immediately following the regularly scheduled board meeting at 9 a.m., Monday, June 6. The work session will also be held in the Historic Courtoom.
